The Divernon Historic Train Depot stands as one of the last remaining visages of Divernon’s history as a mining town and the relationship with the Madison Coal Mine No. 6 and the Illinois Central Railroad. The Depot now serves as a repository of the history of Divernon, housing relics and memorabilia not only from the Village’s history, but of life in the United States in the early 20th Century.

A recent Grant from the Sangamon County Historical Society has enabled the Village to carry out substantial restoration work on the exterior of the building to preserve the structure.

Our goal is to make this museum to our history availible more regularly, to do this we need interested individuals. if you would like to help preserve the Depot please reach out to the Village Hall.

Tours and visits to the Depot can be done via appointment. Contact the Village Hall for more details.
